2025 Highlights

The Raymond A. Wood Foundation (RAWF) proudly reflects on a transformative year marked by innovation, resilience, and community-driven progress. From July 2024 through June 2025, we advanced critical research, expanded direct support, and deepened our impact—all while navigating our first full fiscal year after the conclusion of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative grant.

Research That Reflects Real Life

RAWF officially launched the Hypothalamic-Pituitary Brain Tumor Patient Registry, a first-of-its-kind initiative capturing survivor- and caregiver-reported experiences. This registry informed three major studies in FY2025 on:

  • Hyperphagia (compulsive hunger) in survivors
  • Patient-defined treatment priorities
  • Fatigue in partnership with Rhythm Pharmaceuticals

We also made progress toward the development of an at-home sodium meter, a groundbreaking tool for families managing chronic sodium imbalance, with plans for Phase 1 validation underway.

Direct Support That Makes a Difference

  • 6 handheld blood analyzers were distributed, enabling safer at-home care for families managing complex endocrine needs.
  • 12 support groups each for caregivers and survivors provided trusted spaces for connection.
  • Teen and grief support programs were introduced to meet evolving emotional needs.

Community that Moves the Mission

  • Over $760,000 raised—a record year, thanks to grassroots supporters, major donors, and events.
  • DC’s Dancing Stars Gala returned, raising $93,000 for RAWF.
  • Shore Gives More brought in nearly $96,000 on Giving Tuesday.
  • Team RAWF ran the NYC Half Marathon, raising $15,000.
  • The “Art of Surviving” online art event drew 74 entries, 22,839 votes, and $15,272 raised.

Advocacy in Action

  • RAWF brought the patient voice to Capitol Hill, the FDA, and global research forums.
  • We strengthened collaborations with researchers and companies developing treatments for hypothalamic obesity and related conditions.

Looking Ahead

FY 2026 marks the implementation of a new three-year strategic plan that focuses on

  • Expanding research that centers lived experience
  • Driving innovation like the sodium meter
  • Continuing to grow as a voice for the patient in research
  • Securing sustainable funding to carry our mission forward
