Acquired Hypothalamic Obesity

HomeAcquired Hypothalamic Obesity

Despite its serious impact, HO remains under-recognized in clinical care. RAWF works to change that by supporting patients, empowering caregivers, and partnering with researchers and industry to improve outcomes.

A Condition That Deserves Recognition, Research, and Compassion

Acquired hypothalamic obesity (HO) is a rare and serious condition that can develop after damage to the hypothalamusoften due to treatment for hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumors such as craniopharyngioma. It leads to uncontrollable weight gain, hyperphagia (constant hunger), food preoccupation, and a range of physical, emotional, and social challenges.

The Raymond A. Wood Foundation is committed to supporting those affected by HO and collaborating with the medical and research communities to drive change.
