Acquired Hypothalamic Obesity

HomeAcquired Hypothalamic Obesity

Despite its serious impact, aHO remains under-recognized. RAWF works to change that by advocating for patients and caregivers to improve outcomes.

A Condition That Deserves Recognition and Compassion

Acquired hypothalamic obesity (aHO) is a rare and serious condition that can develop after damage to the hypothalamus often due to hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumors such as craniopharyngioma. It leads to uncontrollable weight gain, hyperphagia (constant hunger), food preoccupation, and a range of physical, emotional, and social challenges.

The Raymond A. Wood Foundation is committed to supporting those affected by aHO and collaborating with the medical communities to drive change.
