A Roadmap for Advancing Research, Advocacy, and Quality of Life

The Raymond A. Wood Foundation’s FY2026–FY2028 Strategic Plan serves as our roadmap for improving the lives of survivors of hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumors. Built on the voices of patients, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers, the plan outlines how we will expand research, strengthen advocacy, grow our global community, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our mission.

Everything we do is guided by one principle: patient experiences should shape the future of care.

Our Vision

A life unburdened by the impact of disease for hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumor survivors.

Our Mission

To drive research and advocate for treatment outcomes that improve quality of life for hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumor survivors.

Strategic Priorities

1. Advance Research, Innovation & Clinical Care

We are committed to accelerating research that addresses the most urgent challenges facing survivors. By investing in patient-centered science, expanding research infrastructure, and developing innovative technologies, we aim to improve diagnosis, treatment, and long-term quality of life.

Key initiatives include:

  • Expanding the Global Patient Registry
  • Advancing development of an at-home sodium monitoring device
  • Identifying new patient-driven research priorities
  • Supporting Centers of Excellence for comprehensive care

2. Strengthen Advocacy & Access to Treatments

Many survivors face significant barriers to receiving appropriate care. We are committed to improving access to life-changing therapies by raising awareness of hypothalamic disorders, engaging policymakers and healthcare leaders, and advocating for systems that better recognize the needs of our community.

Key initiatives include:

  • Advocating for equitable access to emerging therapies
  • Building partnerships with clinicians, payers, and industry
  • Engaging regulatory agencies to improve research and clinical pathways
  • Raising awareness of the unmet needs of craniopharyngioma and other hypothalamic-pituitary disorders

3. Expand Community Engagement & Education

No one should face survivorship alone. We are building a connected, informed, and empowered global community by expanding educational resources, fostering peer connections, and creating opportunities for patients and caregivers to learn from one another.

Key initiatives include:

  • Expanding multilingual educational resources
  • Strengthening partnerships with organizations around the world
  • Launching a secure online patient and caregiver community
  • Providing webinars, educational events, and advocacy resources that empower patients to participate in their own care and in research

4. Enhance Future Sustainability

Creating lasting change requires a strong and sustainable organization. We are investing in diversified funding, leadership development, and organizational capacity so we can continue advancing our mission for years to come.

Key initiatives include:

  • Launching a capital campaign to support the development of the at-home sodium meter
  • Growing major donor and corporate partnerships
  • Expanding long-term fundraising strategies, including planned giving
  • Building organizational resilience through leadership succession planning and capacity development

How We Will Measure Success

Our strategic plan includes measurable goals to evaluate progress across every area of our mission.

We will track outcomes including:

  • Growth of the Global Patient Registry
  • New research collaborations and scientific publications
  • Progress toward development of the sodium meter
  • Advocacy efforts that improve access to treatment
  • Expansion of educational resources and community engagement
  • Growth in fundraising, donor retention, and organizational sustainability

Regular reviews by staff and the Board of Directors will ensure accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Our Guiding Principles

Everything we do is grounded in five core values:

  • Patient-Centered Innovation – Listening to survivors and caregivers to guide meaningful solutions.
  • Integrity & Transparency – Acting responsibly and communicating openly.
  • Empathy & Compassion – Supporting every individual with dignity and respect.
  • Ethical Responsibility – Upholding the highest standards in research, advocacy, and stewardship.
  • Collaboration & Inclusivity – Bringing together diverse voices to create lasting impact.

De cara al futuro

The FY2026–FY2028 Strategic Plan reflects our commitment to creating meaningful, measurable change for hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumor survivors worldwide. By investing in patient-led research, advocating for equitable access to care, strengthening our global community, and building a sustainable organization, we are laying the foundation for a future where survivors not only live—but thrive.

Together with patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, partners, and supporters, we are transforming lived experience into action and shaping a better future for our community.
