Improving Life Beyond Survival
Les Raymond A. Wood Foundation (RAWF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of survivors of hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumors through research, advocacy, education, and innovation. We believe that surviving a brain tumor should not mean living without answers, support, or hope.
While many hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumors have high survival rates, survivors often face lifelong medical, cognitive, endocrine, and quality-of-life challenges that remain underrecognized and underfunded. RAWF exists to change that.
Our work is driven by one simple belief: patients and families should help shape the future of research, treatment, and care. This patient-centered approach guides everything we do—from advancing scientific research to advocating for better access to treatments and building a stronger global community.
What We Do
Every initiative at RAWF is focused on helping survivors thrive. We work across four key areas:
Advance Research & Innovation
We support patient-centered research that addresses the real-world challenges faced by hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumor survivors. Through initiatives such as our Global Patient Registry, innovative technology development, and research collaborations, we are helping generate the evidence needed to improve care and quality of life.
Advocate for Better Care
Many survivors struggle to access appropriate treatments because hypothalamic conditions remain poorly understood. We work alongside clinicians, researchers, industry partners, and policymakers to raise awareness, improve access to therapies, and advocate for healthcare systems that recognize the unique needs of our community.
Build Community
Living with a hypothalamic-pituitary brain tumor affects every aspect of life—not just the medical diagnosis. We provide educational resources, peer support, webinars, caregiver programming, and opportunities for patients and families to connect, learn, and advocate together.
Invest in the Future
Long-term impact requires long-term sustainability. Through responsible stewardship, strategic partnerships, and diversified fundraising, we continue investing in research, innovation, and programs that will improve outcomes for future generations of survivors.
Our Commitment
Everything we do is grounded in the voices of patients, survivors, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers. We believe meaningful progress happens when scientific discovery is informed by lived experience and when collaboration replaces silos.
Our work is guided by the values of:
- Patient-centered innovation
- Integrity and transparency
- Empathy and compassion
- Ethical responsibility
- Collaboration and inclusivity
