Silas a \u00e9t\u00e9 diagnostiqu\u00e9 avec une tumeur c\u00e9r\u00e9brale craniopharyngiome en janvier 2017 et, en cons\u00e9quence, souffre de diab\u00e8te insipide (DI) une condition dans laquelle, en raison d'une blessure, la glande pituitaire n'excr\u00e8te pas l'hormone antidiur\u00e9tique (ADH), ce qui rend les niveaux de sodium dans le sang difficiles \u00e0 g\u00e9rer.<\/p>\n<p>Au cours de l'ann\u00e9e et demie qui s'est \u00e9coul\u00e9e depuis le drainage de la partie kystique de la tumeur et la radioth\u00e9rapie qui a suivi, Silas a d\u00fb faire face \u00e0 de nombreuses visites aux urgences et \u00e0 des vols m\u00e9dicaux vers Denver en raison de probl\u00e8mes de r\u00e9gulation de son sodium. La m\u00e8re de Silas dit qu'elle a l'impression que tous les probl\u00e8mes m\u00e9dicaux d\u00e9coulent de l'\u00e9quilibre du sodium de Silas.<\/p>\n<p>\"C'est une bataille quotidienne\", a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Chelsea. \"Nous n'aimerions rien de plus que de surveiller son sodium et d'y rem\u00e9dier \u00e0 la maison du mieux que nous pouvons.<\/p>\n<p>Silas aime colorier, dessiner, jouer avec de la p\u00e2te \u00e0 modeler et commence tout juste \u00e0 s'int\u00e9resser de nouveau \u00e0 ses jouets, comme sa collection de roues chaudes et d'avions. Son petit fr\u00e8re Ackley est comme une petite s\u00e9ance de th\u00e9rapie pour Silas, lui permettant de ne plus penser \u00e0 la douleur ou \u00e0 la nourriture - il souffre \u00e9galement d'hyperphagie, c'est-\u00e0-dire d'une faim persistante et insatiable r\u00e9sultant d'une l\u00e9sion de l'hypothalamus. Silas aime danser et se d\u00e9hancher sur toutes sortes de musiques et il a transmis ses mouvements caract\u00e9ristiques \u00e0 son petit fr\u00e8re.
