A estas alturas, la mayor\u00eda de nosotros ya hemos acudido a una cita de telesalud y, aunque es cierto que pueden tener sus fallos t\u00e9cnicos, desde mi punto de vista de cuidador de un paciente pedi\u00e1trico cr\u00f3nico, las ventajas superan con creces a los inconvenientes. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Mi hijo, un ni\u00f1o superviviente de un tumor cerebral craneofaringioma, consulta a m\u00faltiples especialistas: endocrinolog\u00eda, neurolog\u00eda, neumolog\u00eda, psicolog\u00eda conductual y revisiones trimestrales con su pediatra. Vivimos en una zona remota en la costa de Maryland, a horas de CHOP o Hopkins, sus hospitales de tratamiento. La telesalud me ha ahorrado literalmente horas de viaje, por no hablar de las horas en la sala de espera. Para mi hijo, las visitas al m\u00e9dico ocupaban una parte importante de su vida y la telesalud ha mejorado su calidad de vida devolvi\u00e9ndole su tiempo de ni\u00f1o y permiti\u00e9ndole estar en su entorno c\u00f3modo durante estos seguimientos rutinarios. De hecho, cuando tuvimos que acudir en persona a una cita hace poco, me plante\u00e9 cambiar de m\u00e9dico, ya que este proveedor no ofrece telesalud, despu\u00e9s de conducir 45 minutos en cada sentido y esperar casi una hora para una cita de 15 minutos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">La telesalud tambi\u00e9n nos ha abierto las puertas al acceso a cuidados y especialistas a los que antes no pod\u00edamos acudir. Estaba recibiendo terapia conductual a nivel local pero, debido a su rara afecci\u00f3n, esa persona no conoc\u00eda bien c\u00f3mo funciona su cerebro o el impacto del tumor y c\u00f3mo se manifiesta en su comportamiento. Ahora recibe servicios de terapia del Kennedy Krieger de Baltimore, a cargo de psic\u00f3logos con experiencia en su tipo de tumor y en los problemas traum\u00e1ticos que conllevan las hospitalizaciones repentinas rutinarias.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Hay algunas visitas que pueden implicar pruebas o pr\u00e1cticas que no pueden realizarse en l\u00ednea, pero parece que cuando es posible realizar visitas m\u00e1s consultivas, a la mayor\u00eda de los m\u00e9dicos tambi\u00e9n les gusta porque les da m\u00e1s tiempo para centrarse en los pacientes con menos distracciones. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">La gran pregunta: \u00bfha llegado para quedarse? He descargado y probado aplicaciones para tomar las constantes vitales, me conecto pronto para asegurarme de que mi conexi\u00f3n funciona y el audio es claro. Le pongo a Alex el uniforme de las citas con el m\u00e9dico, una camisa con cuello, y lo acomodo c\u00f3modamente con cosas para que se entretenga mientras est\u00e1 en la pantalla.
