Wood Foundation (RAWF) lanza el tercer a\u00f1o de \"El arte de sobrevivir\", una exposici\u00f3n de arte virtual que celebra la creatividad de la comunidad afectada por tumores cerebrales durante el mes de mayo, Mes de la Concienciaci\u00f3n sobre los Tumores Cerebrales.  Pacientes y supervivientes de tumores cerebrales, junto con cuidadores y familiares de todo el mundo, han presentado m\u00e1s de cien obras en todo tipo de soportes: fotograf\u00eda, arte digital, dibujo, pintura, grabado, 3D, multimedia y escritura creativa.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Fundada en 2017, la Fundaci\u00f3n Raymond A. Wood ayuda a mejorar la calidad de vida de los supervivientes de tumores cerebrales hipotal\u00e1mico-hipofisarios proporcionando acceso a la educaci\u00f3n, la tecnolog\u00eda y los tratamientos en evoluci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Muchos supervivientes de tumores cerebrales utilizan el arte como una forma de afrontar los retos que conlleva el tratamiento, un medio para calmar y centrar un cerebro en proceso de curaci\u00f3n o una oportunidad para expresar sus experiencias. Algunos supervivientes tienen dificultades con las actividades recreativas t\u00edpicas debido a las implicaciones m\u00e9dicas y las comorbilidades a largo plazo que conllevan los tratamientos de ciertos tipos de tumores, lo que les lleva al arte como una actividad que pueden realizar de forma independiente o con familiares.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">La idea de esta exposici\u00f3n de arte anual surgi\u00f3 cuando la directora ejecutiva de RAWF, Amy Wood, vio que su hijo, tratado de un tumor cerebral a los 4 a\u00f1os, se inclinaba continuamente por dibujar y colorear por encima de cualquier otra actividad.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\"Nunca le hab\u00eda interesado el arte antes del tratamiento del tumor y, de repente, colorear y dibujar eran sus pasatiempos\", dice Wood.  \"Parec\u00eda utilizarlo como v\u00e1lvula de escape en momentos en los que necesitaba un descanso de los est\u00edmulos externos\".<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Wood se fij\u00f3 en los artistas que surg\u00edan entre los grupos de tumores cerebrales en los que participaba por Internet, as\u00ed que pidi\u00f3 a una colega, Olive Mawyer, ahora coordinadora de la muestra, que le ayudara a organizar una exposici\u00f3n de arte para el mes de mayo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\"Pens\u00e9 que ofrecer una plataforma para compartir obras de arte ser\u00eda algo positivo para la Fundaci\u00f3n durante el Mes de Concienciaci\u00f3n sobre Tumores Cerebrales\", explica Wood. \"No sab\u00eda c\u00f3mo ir\u00eda, pero pens\u00e9 que podr\u00edamos construirlo y ver si la gente estar\u00eda interesada en participar\".<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">La primera edici\u00f3n de Art of Surviving se puso en marcha en mayo de 2018 con unos 10 participantes y no ha dejado de crecer. Este a\u00f1o se exponen 115 obras, con m\u00e1s de 40 participantes de todo el mundo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Las obras son juzgadas por un jurado de artistas y escritores profesionales que las revisan y punt\u00faan, y los ganadores reciben premios en met\u00e1lico. Tambi\u00e9n hay un Premio del P\u00fablico, en el que los ciudadanos pueden votar por sus favoritos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\"En la muestra de este a\u00f1o hay algunas expresiones bellas y conmovedoras a trav\u00e9s del arte y la escritura, junto con algunas historias de supervivencia verdaderamente inspiradoras\", dijo Mawyer. \"Esperamos que la gente se tome su tiempo para explorar la galer\u00eda y aprender m\u00e1s sobre las experiencias de los supervivientes y sus cuidadores y familiares\".<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Obras de arte, textos creativos e incluso un v\u00eddeo musical se exponen en <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artofsurviving.gallery\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline\">www.artofsurviving.gallery<\/span><\/a>.
