Cuando a un hijo le diagnostican un c\u00e1ncer, sobre todo a la tierna edad de dos a\u00f1os, el mundo cambia de una forma indescriptible. Mi hijo Ben es el coraz\u00f3n de nuestra familia. Con una sonrisa que ilumina cualquier habitaci\u00f3n y un esp\u00edritu que irradia alegr\u00eda, se ha convertido en un verdadero s\u00edmbolo de resistencia. A los trece a\u00f1os, Ben ya hab\u00eda sufrido tres operaciones cerebrales, dos tumores y un aneurisma. A pesar de todo, segu\u00eda siendo el alma de todas las reuniones: su risa resonaba m\u00e1s fuerte que el dolor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despu\u00e9s de cinco a\u00f1os y medio sin c\u00e1ncer, nuestros corazones se hundieron en agosto de 2020 cuando nos enteramos de que el c\u00e1ncer de Ben hab\u00eda regresado. Hab\u00edan aparecido dos n\u00f3dulos cerca del tumor original de 2014. Fue un golpe devastador, uno que hab\u00edamos rezado para que nunca llegara. Pero empezamos de nuevo, caminando hacia la tormenta con la esperanza en una mano y el miedo en la otra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoy llevamos cuatro a\u00f1os y medio sin c\u00e1ncer, pero la ansiedad nunca desaparece del todo. Esa pregunta persistente...\u00bfRegresar\u00e1?<\/em>-nunca deja de resonar en la mente de un padre. Y, sin embargo, seguimos adelante. Vivimos. Amamos. Crecemos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Para m\u00ed, el arte no es s\u00f3lo un pasatiempo, es mi salvavidas. Es mi terapia, mi santuario y mi forma de procesar lo inimaginable. Esta pintura acr\u00edlica fue creada durante una clase de pintura y soda que imparto los viernes por la noche. No me propuse pintar nada profundo. S\u00f3lo quer\u00eda algo sencillo, algo accesible para los principiantes. Pero a medida que el lienzo cobraba vida, tambi\u00e9n lo hac\u00eda una historia que no sab\u00eda que necesitaba contar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En el cuadro, yo estoy en el centro, mi hija adulta a la derecha y Ben, nuestro guerrero, a la izquierda. Esta obra de arte refleja no s\u00f3lo nuestro v\u00ednculo, sino nuestra fuerza compartida como cuidadores y supervivientes. Es una representaci\u00f3n visual de c\u00f3mo nos sostenemos mutuamente en los momentos m\u00e1s oscuros y encontramos la luz incluso en las victorias m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Lo que no nos mata nos hace m\u00e1s fuertes\", dec\u00eda Nietzsche. Eso se ha convertido en nuestra verdad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agradezco la oportunidad de compartir esta obra a trav\u00e9s de El arte de sobrevivir<\/em>y para honrar el viaje de mi familia.
