Estaba en el entrenamiento de nataci\u00f3n una ma\u00f1ana del verano de 2014, ten\u00eda 14 a\u00f1os. Hab\u00eda experimentado episodios de euforia extrema unas dos veces al d\u00eda durante varios meses, m\u00e1s tarde descubr\u00ed que esos episodios eran convulsiones de aura. Pero esta ma\u00f1ana en particular la convulsi\u00f3n de aura fue extremadamente intensa. Lo \u00faltimo que recuerdo es que estaba en el vestuario del equipo de nataci\u00f3n. Me hab\u00eda ca\u00eddo y me hab\u00eda golpeado la cabeza contra un banco de cemento, por lo que sufr\u00ed una conmoci\u00f3n cerebral muy grave. Despu\u00e9s de que me llevaran al hospital, me hicieron un esc\u00e1ner cerebral y descubrieron que ten\u00eda un tumor cerebral en el l\u00f3bulo temporal derecho.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Tras el descubrimiento del tumor, la operaci\u00f3n se fij\u00f3 para dentro de una semana. Estaba absolutamente aterrorizada por la operaci\u00f3n, sobre todo por la posibilidad de no volver a ser la misma. Yo era una adolescente extremadamente sociable y deportista, as\u00ed que esta situaci\u00f3n cambi\u00f3 por completo mi mundo. No sab\u00eda si volver\u00eda a ser la misma despu\u00e9s de la operaci\u00f3n ni si podr\u00eda volver a practicar los deportes que me gustaban.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Despu\u00e9s de la operaci\u00f3n estuve en reposo durante 3 meses, tuve un sistema de apoyo incre\u00edble y mis amigos y mi familia estuvieron conmigo en todo momento. El proceso de recuperaci\u00f3n fue extremadamente aburrido y aterrador, ya que estuve en cama durante meses con muchas preguntas sin respuesta. Desde mi cirug\u00eda en el verano de 2014 termin\u00e9 mi segundo a\u00f1o en una escuela secundaria cerca de Chicago, luego me mud\u00e9 a Baltimore para terminar mi tercer y \u00faltimo a\u00f1o. La parte m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil de mudarse como adolescente fue dejar mi sistema de apoyo que me ayud\u00f3 a trav\u00e9s de mi cirug\u00eda. Cuando llegu\u00e9 a Maryland me convert\u00ed en la capitana del equipo de nataci\u00f3n del instituto y en nadadora estatal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">En general, estoy muy agradecida por mi experiencia con el tumor cerebral, porque no mucha gente ha tenido la oportunidad de crecer de esta manera. A lo largo de mi viaje he descubierto y comprendido cosas sobre la vida, la mentalidad y la esencia de la perseverancia.
